About Dell Maxwell

A Chicago born author who now lives in Starkville, Mississippi, Dell Maxwell began her writing career in Chicago, but shortly after arriving in Mississippi the southern air somehow got her "creative juices" flowing.

According to Maxwell, "I began earnestly writing when my daughter, Diamond was born.  My love of

writing increased out of a desire to be a perfect mother.  I thought by writing that I would have some great stories for my daughter to hear."  Maxwell was amazed at the response to her stories by her daughter, children and parents in the neighborhood which led to the production of Stories of "Adventures In Sleepy Town" Volume I and II, a marvelous collection of audio books with moral lessons for young listeners to develop and enhance listening skills.  Maxwell is most pleased that her work serves as a soothing tool to calm some children struggling with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).

Maxwell says, "In this fast paced, television, Nintendo age that we live in, children direct more attention to visualization, with very little focus placed on listening.  It is our hope that Stories of "Adventures In Sleepy Town" Volume I and II as well as our "Black History Series" can bridge that gap and offer some help to those young minds."
